Senate Resolution No. by Senator Barrow commends the Baton Rouge Fire Department for their outstanding achievement in winning the 2025 Pensacola Beach Firefighters Challenge. Established in 1825, the department has a rich history of service and has become a nationally recognized leader in the fire service industry, notably being the first in the nation to achieve and maintain a Class 1 rating for over forty years. In addition to their primary responsibilities of protecting the community, the firefighters engage in competitive fitness challenges that foster teamwork and physical readiness.

During the Pensacola Beach Firefighters Challenge held on April 11-12, 2025, the Baton Rouge Fire Department showcased their strength and endurance by competing in various physically demanding events while wearing full firefighting gear. Their exceptional performance led them to secure First Place in the Team Competition, achieving the best overall time among elite fire departments from across the nation. This victory not only highlights the department's excellence and discipline but also brings pride to the city of Baton Rouge. The resolution calls for a copy to be transmitted to Fire Chief Michael Kimble in recognition of this accomplishment.
