This bill amends and reenacts specific provisions of R.S. 44:11.2 to enhance the protection of personal information for certain individuals classified as "protected individuals." The bill introduces new categories of protected individuals, including current or retired district attorneys, assistant district attorneys, district attorney investigators, current members of the legislature, statewide elected officials, and members of the public service commission. It also allows these individuals or their representatives, such as the Louisiana District Attorneys Association, to request that public bodies or third parties limit access to their personal information.

Additionally, the bill repeals R.S. 44:11.2(D) entirely and clarifies that while protected individuals can seek to limit access to their personal information, they are not exempt from the publication or removal of their information from records publicly posted by the office of the secretary of state. The effective date for this legislation is set for February 1, 2026.
