The Louisiana-Ireland Trade Commission is established through a concurrent resolution by Senator Mizell and Representative McMakin, recognizing the historical and cultural ties between Louisiana and Ireland, particularly the significant Irish-American population in the state. The resolution designates March as "Irish-American Heritage Month" and aims to strengthen commercial links between Louisiana and Ireland as both regions seek to revitalize their economies. The commission's objectives include advancing bilateral trade and investment, promoting business and academic exchanges, and addressing mutual policy issues.

The commission will consist of various appointed members, including representatives from the restaurant and oil and gas industries, state legislators, and individuals from higher education and Irish-American communities. Appointments must be completed by September 1, 2025, with the commission's first meeting scheduled by October 1, 2025. The commission will report its findings and recommendations to the governor and the legislature by March 1, 2026, and will dissolve upon submission of its report or by August 1, 2026, whichever comes first. Members will serve without compensation, except for allowable expenses, and Senate Legislative Services will provide staff support.
