A dedicated educator and healthcare professional, she graduated from Bogalusa High School and earned nursing degrees from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing and Northwestern Louisiana University, later obtaining a Master's Degree in counseling. Dorothy taught nursing at Northshore Technical Community College, where she served as the Director of Nursing, and was recognized for her commitment to education and service, receiving multiple accolades throughout her career.
Dorothy was also an active member of her community and church, serving in various leadership roles at First Baptist Church in Bogalusa and participating in numerous local boards and committees. Her contributions to the community were honored when she was named Bogalusa Citizen of the Year in 2002. Dorothy passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, at the age of 92, leaving behind her daughter, granddaughter, and great-grandchildren.
