The Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana has adopted a resolution expressing heartfelt condolences on the passing of Marguerite Gay May Town, who died on August 20, 2024, at the age of eighty-seven. Marguerite, affectionately known as Gay, was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and spent most of her life in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was a dedicated advocate for children's welfare, co-founding the St. Elizabeth Foundation in 1988, which has successfully placed over six hundred babies into loving homes. Her contributions to the community were recognized when she was named St. Joseph's Academy Alumna of the Year in 2010.
The resolution honors Marguerite's legacy, which includes her strong will, leadership, and passion for family, as she leaves behind six children, twenty grandchildren, and twenty-three great-grandchildren. The Senate commends her exemplary life and service to humanity, extending condolences to her family and friends.
