The House Resolution commends the St. Mary's Dominican High School swim team for their outstanding achievement in winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) 2024 Division I state championship. The team secured the title with an impressive total of 411.5 points, surpassing the runner-up by fifty-seven points. Under the leadership of Head Coach Bret Hanemann, the team rebounded from a narrow loss in the previous season, showcasing their determination and skill. Individual swimmers also excelled, with Terese Vocke, Kendall Jollands, and Haley Valdine winning multiple state titles in various events, while the team also claimed two relay state titles.
In addition to their athletic accomplishments, several team members received individual honors for their academic achievements. Sydney Ranson was awarded the Lou Reilly Award for her continuous improvement and teamwork, while Haley Valdine was recognized on the LHSAA All-Academic 4.0 Composite Team for maintaining a perfect GPA. Other swimmers, including Kayleigh Jollands, Sydney Ranson, and Virginia Robinson, were named to the LHSAA All-Academic Team for their exemplary academic performance. The resolution expresses the House of Representatives' recognition of the team's hard work and dedication, wishing them continued success in their future endeavors.
