This bill amends R.S. 40:1849(B) concerning the registration fees for tanker trucks transporting liquefied petroleum gas in Louisiana. The legislation increases the annual registration fee for these vehicles from a previous amount of fifty dollars to a tiered structure. Specifically, from August 1, 2025, until July 31, 2030, the fee will be set at up to one hundred dollars, and after that period, it will increase to up to one hundred fifty dollars.
Additionally, the bill stipulates that no tanker truck with a water capacity of one thousand gallons or more can transport liquefied petroleum gas, including anhydrous ammonia, without being registered with the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Commission and having the appropriate fee paid. Upon payment, the commission will issue a registration decal that must be permanently affixed to the vehicle, ensuring compliance with the regulations established by the commission.
