This bill amends R.S. 40:1849(B) concerning the registration fees for tanker trucks transporting liquefied petroleum gas in Louisiana. The current annual registration fee of fifty dollars is deleted and replaced with a tiered fee structure. From August 1, 2025, until July 31, 2030, the registration fee will be increased to up to one hundred dollars, and thereafter, it will rise to up to one hundred fifty dollars.
Additionally, the bill stipulates that no tanker truck with a water capacity of one thousand gallons or more can transport liquefied petroleum gas, including anhydrous ammonia, without being registered with the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Commission and having a valid registration decal affixed to the vehicle. This ensures compliance with safety regulations and proper oversight of vehicles involved in the transportation of hazardous materials.
