This bill amends the existing law regarding the French Quarter Management District in New Orleans by extending the district's existence from June 30, 2028, to June 30, 2033. Additionally, it introduces new provisions that allow the district to procure its own emergency sanitation services if the city of New Orleans is unable to provide these services due to a lack of staff or contracted vendors.
The newly enacted section specifies that the costs for these emergency sanitation services will be reimbursed by the city through an intergovernmental transfer of funds, contingent upon authorization and allocation by a budget ordinance from the governing authority of Orleans Parish. The emergency contract for sanitation services will remain in effect until the city resumes its services through its own employees or a valid contract.
