House Bill No. by Representative Knox amends the existing law regarding the French Quarter Management District in New Orleans. The bill extends the existence of the district from June 30, 2028, to June 30, 2033. Additionally, it introduces new provisions that allow the district to procure its own emergency sanitation services if the city of New Orleans is unable to provide these services due to a lack of staff or a contracted vendor.

Under the new provisions, the costs incurred for these emergency sanitation services will be reimbursed by the city through an intergovernmental transfer of funds, contingent upon authorization and allocation by a budget ordinance from the governing authority of Orleans Parish. The emergency contracts will remain in effect until the city resumes its sanitation services through its employees or a legally executed contract.
