Senate Bill No. by Senator McMath aims to establish a regulatory framework for the creation and relocation of recreational vehicle (RV) dealerships in Louisiana. The bill enacts R.S. 32:1270.30.1, which mandates that the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission notify existing RV dealerships within the community or territory of any applications for new dealerships or relocations that involve the same line makes, models, or classifications. Existing dealerships have the right to protest such applications if they are within a specified radius—200 miles for motor home dealerships and 100 miles for towable RV dealerships. Additionally, the bill allows dealerships outside this radius to protest if the application would add an additional franchise to an existing dealership's community.

The proposed law also outlines the procedures for handling protests, including a requirement for the applicant and manufacturer to demonstrate that the existing dealerships will not be substantially harmed by the new or relocated dealership. A written objection must be submitted within thirty days of notification, and if a protest is lodged, a hearing will be held to determine the outcome. Furthermore, the bill exempts existing dealerships with valid dealer agreements as of August 1, 2025, from these provisions. The law is set to take effect on August 1, 2025.
