The Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana has passed a resolution to commend the University High School (U-High) baseball team for their historic achievement in winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2024 Division III Select State Championship. This victory marks the first state championship in baseball for U-High, as the team demonstrated remarkable perseverance by overcoming an 8-1 deficit to defeat St. Charles Catholic 11-8 in the championship game. The U-High Cubs finished the season with an impressive record of 28-8, shared the co-district championship title, and went undefeated in the playoffs with a 6-0 record.
The resolution highlights the team's dedication, resilience, and teamwork, as well as their commitment to honoring the memory of former teammate Cameron Robbins, who tragically passed away in May 2023. Additionally, the U-High baseball team excelled academically, achieving a combined GPA of 3.76. The resolution concludes by congratulating the team for their outstanding achievement and exceptional display of sportsmanship, and it calls for a copy of the resolution to be sent to head coach Justin Morgan.
