Senate Resolution No. by Senator Harris commends the New Orleans Louisiana Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (NOLA BJJ) Kids Competition Camp for its dedication to excellence in martial arts and welcomes the organization to the Louisiana State Capitol on May 29, 2024. NOLA BJJ, which began in the early 1990s, has grown to become the oldest and largest Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school in New Orleans, boasting over fifty Black Belts across multiple locations. The camp, initiated a year ago, provides intensive training for youth, focusing on essential Jiu Jitsu techniques, endurance, and competition strategies, while also promoting physical, mental, and emotional development.

The resolution highlights the camp's success, noting that it has expanded from six participants to over twenty, with kids recently achieving remarkable results at the North American Grappling Association Championship, earning numerous medals. The Senate recognizes the positive impact of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on youth, including the development of social skills, self-esteem, and healthy habits, and commends the coaches, participants, and their families for their commitment to the sport and personal growth. A copy of the resolution will be sent to Will Harrell, the camp's coordinator and coach.
