He graduated from Louisiana Tech University and earned a master's degree in entomology from Louisiana State University. Young served as a U.S. Navy pilot and later established a successful agricultural business in Wisner, Louisiana, where he was actively involved in agriculture consulting and various agricultural organizations.

In addition to his professional achievements, Ray Young was a dedicated public servant, having served as mayor of Wisner and on the Franklin Parish Police Jury, among other roles. He was deeply committed to his faith and community, actively participating in First Baptist Church of Wisner. Celebrating over seventy years of marriage with his wife, Dorothy, Ray took pride in his family, including their four children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The resolution honors his significant contributions to agriculture, public service, and the community, recognizing individuals like Ray Young as vital to the strength and vitality of Louisiana and American society.
