He served as a U.S. Navy pilot and later established a successful agricultural business in Wisner, Louisiana, where he was actively involved in various agricultural organizations and received numerous accolades for his contributions to the field.

In addition to his agricultural achievements, Ray Young was a dedicated public servant, having served as mayor of Wisner and on the Franklin Parish Police Jury, among other roles. He was deeply committed to his faith and community, actively participating in First Baptist Church of Wisner. Ray celebrated seventy-one years of marriage with his wife, Dorothy, and took pride in his family, including four children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
