The resolution urges the Wildlife and Fisheries Commission to amend existing administrative rules that currently prohibit the use of airboats in the Maurepas Swamp Wildlife Management Area (WMA). The Maurepas Swamp WMA spans over 112,615 acres and features various waterways, where activities such as hunting, fishing, and boating take place. While airboats are banned across all WMAs, motorboats are permitted, leading to a situation where airboats are restricted in areas where motorboat traffic is already allowed.

The resolution calls for the modification of these rules to permit airboat operation in any section of the Maurepas Swamp WMA where motorboat traffic is permitted. It emphasizes the inconsistency of prohibiting airboats while allowing motorboats in the same areas and seeks to ensure that airboat users have the same access as motorboat users. A copy of the resolution will be sent to the chairman of the Wildlife and Fisheries Commission and the secretary of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
