ACT 529 (SB 469) 2024 Regular Session Price
Existing law authorizes the governing authority of Ascension Parish to create special taxing
districts for funding new residential road infrastructure development only.
New law retains existing law.
Existing law provides that the district may finance, fund, plan, establish, acquire, construct
or reconstruct, enlarge or extend, equip, operate, and maintain systems, facilities, and basic
road infrastructures for the following:
(1) Bridges or culverts that may be needed across or in any drain, ditch, canal, floodway,
holding basin, excavation, public highway, tract, grade, fill, or cut, and roadways
over levees and embankments, and may construct any and all of such works and
improvements across, through, or over any public right-of-way, highway, grade, fill,
or cut.
(2) District roads equal to or exceeding parish specifications and street lights.
New law retains existing law and adds drainage facilities within the scope of projects that
fall under the districts powers.
Existing law provides that existing law shall cease to be effective on August 1, 2024.
New law repeals the August 1, 2024 termination date of existing law.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
