This bill enacts a new section of law, R.S. 47:463.230, to establish a special prestige motor vehicle license plate known as the "Jefferson Parish Bicentennial" plate. The Department of Public Safety and Corrections is tasked with creating this plate, which will be available for passenger cars, pickup trucks, recreational vehicles, motorcycles, and vans, provided there are at least one thousand applicants. The design of the plate will be selected in collaboration with the governing authority of Jefferson Parish and must include the words "Jefferson Parish Bicentennial."

Additionally, the bill stipulates that an annual royalty fee of twenty-five dollars will be collected for the plate, alongside a handling fee of three dollars and fifty cents. The collected fees will be forwarded to the Jefferson Community Foundation and used for public purposes, including the planning and development of cultural events related to the Bicentennial of Jefferson Parish. The Department of Public Safety and Corrections is directed to implement the creation of this special license plate once the necessary statutory provisions are met.
