Abstract: Decreases the age requirement for barber college students.
Present law provides that barber colleges shall not admit students under 17 years of age.
Proposed law changes the age limit for barber college admission from 17 to 16 years of age unless
the student is enrolled in a board-approved barber college that operates within a state high school.
Present law provides that a person who is at least 18 years old, upon payment of a fee provided and
his application, shall be examined by the board to determine his qualifications to receive a certificate
of registration to practice barbering in this state.
Proposed law changes the age requirement for certification from 18 years old to 17 years old.
