Existing law provides for the insurance fraud investigation unit within the Dept. of Public
Safety and Corrections. Generally requires the insurance fraud investigation unit to conduct
independent inquiries and investigations into allegations of insurance fraud.
New law retains existing law.
Prior law terminated the insurance fraud investigation unit on July 1, 2024.
New law repeals prior law.
Effective upon signature of governor (May 23, 2024).
