This bill amends R.S. 13:964(H) to revise the fee structure for court reporters in the Fourteenth Judicial District Court. The previous provision, which specified a fee of three dollars and twenty-five cents per page for originals and seventy-five cents per page for copies only for cases reported and transcribed for appeal, has been deleted. The new language stipulates that a majority of the judges will determine the fees for both the transcription of each page of testimony and for copies of transcribed testimony. Additionally, the bill extends the application of these fees to all reported cases, including those that are reported but not transcribed.

Furthermore, the bill clarifies that the fees collected will be retained by the court reporter as compensation, in addition to their salary, and will be taxed as costs of the suit. Importantly, the implementation of these new fees is contingent upon a recommendation from the Judicial Council, which must confirm that the fees meet applicable guidelines before they can be imposed or collected.
