Provides for an informational document to be made available to pregnant mothers following the diagnosis of a fetal genetic
abnormality with respect to their unborn child. (8/1/24)
Proposed law requires the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) to develop an informational document that will be provided
to pregnant women who have been informed that their unborn child has a fetal genetic abnormality diagnosis. The document
shall include resources, programs, and services for pregnant women and infants born with disabilities. Information shall also
include instructions on how and where families of children with disabilities may apply for financial assistance and financial
benefits made available via the Medicaid program in this state and similar programs. The information will be available to any
requesting provider of women’s health care services and shall maintain the information on a link on the department’s
website. The informational document may be merged with the informational document mandated by R.S. 40:1061.1.4.
