House Concurrent Resolution No. by Representative Bayham directs the Department of Public Safety and Corrections to create and issue a special "America 250" license plate for private passenger motor vehicles in Louisiana. This initiative commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, which will be celebrated from July 4, 2026. The plates will feature a design proposed by the America 250 Louisiana State Commission, including the "America 250" logo and the word "Louisiana" in red. The issuance of these plates is scheduled to begin no later than January 2, 2025, and will continue until December 31, 2026, or until the inventory is depleted, without requiring additional state funding.

Once the inventory of the "America 250" plates is exhausted or after December 31, 2026, the Department of Public Safety and Corrections will revert to the standard Louisiana license plate design that was approved during the 2004 Regular Session of the Legislature. The resolution emphasizes the importance of this commemorative plate as a means for Louisiana residents to express their patriotic pride during this significant anniversary. Copies of the resolution will be sent to relevant officials within the Department of Public Safety and Corrections and the America 250 Louisiana State Commission.
