ACT 313 (SB 207) 2024 Regular Session Mizell
Existing law prohibits a student's unauthorized use of any electronic telecommunication
device in public school buildings and on school buses and school grounds.
New law prohibits a student from possessing on his person such a device throughout the
instructional day. Requires, if a student brings a device in a school building or on school
grounds during the instructional day, that it be turned off and stowed away for the duration
of the instructional day or prohibited from being turned on and used during the instructional
day. New law provides for an exception which does not apply to a student whose
Individualized Education Program, Individualized Accommodation Plan, Section 504 plan,
or Individualized Health Plan requires the student's use of the device.
