This bill amends R.S. 22:1295(1)(a)(ii) to enhance the regulations surrounding uninsured motorist coverage in Louisiana. It establishes that the rejection of coverage, selection of lower limits, or selection of economic-only coverage must be documented on a form provided by the insurer and signed by the named insured or their legal representative. The bill introduces new requirements for insurers, including the obligation to verify the proper completion of the rejection form and to retain a copy of it as part of the policy. Insurers are prohibited from delegating the responsibility of retaining this form to the producer of record.

Additionally, the bill clarifies that the signed form remains valid for the duration of the policy and does not require a new form upon renewal or amendment of the policy, unless the insured chooses to change their selection. It also redefines what constitutes a "new policy" in this context. The provisions of this act will take effect for new policies written on or after April 1, 2025.
