ACT 295 (SB 129) 2024 Regular Session Owen
Prior law provided that certain items in the personnel records of a public employee of any
public body are confidential: the home telephone number of the public employee where the
employee has chosen to have a private or unlisted home telephone number because of the
nature of his occupation with the body; the home telephone number and address of the public
employee where the employee has requested that the number or be confidential; and the
name and account number of any financial institution to which the employee's wages or
salary are directly deposited by an electronic direct deposit payroll system or other direct
deposit payroll system.
New law retains prior law and further provides for the confidentiality of the public
employee's cell phone number and personal email address or addresses if requested to be
confidential.
Effective August 1, 2024.
