RÉSUMÉ DIGEST
ACT 503 (SB 94) 2024 Regular Session Coussan
Existing law (R.S. 33:113.1) provides for the authority of parish and municipal planning
commissions. Provides formal procedures for approval of subdivision plats, including notice
and hearing.
Existing law provides for administrative procedures for the approval or certification of plats
involving minor modifications of existing parcels. Specifies that the categories of
modifications qualifying for such administrative approval or certification include the
realignment or shifting of lot boundary lines, including removal, addition, alignment, or
shifting of interior lot boundary lines, or the redesignation of lot numbers provided that the
application meets the following requirements:
(1) Does not involve the creation of any new street or other public improvement.
(2) Does not involve more than two acres of land or 10 lots of record.
(3) Does not reduce a lot size below the minimum area or frontage requirements
established by ordinance.
(4) Otherwise meets all the requirements of the subdivision regulations and zoning
ordinances.
New law retains existing law but provides exceptions for applicants from Lafayette Parish
from the requirement of two acres of land or less, for purposes of approval or certification
of plats involving certain modifications of existing parcels.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
