RÉSUMÉ DIGEST
ACT 250 (HB 311) 2024 Regular Session Hebert
Existing law provides for examinations of insurers and producers. Requires certain
examinations and authorizes the commissioner of insurance (commissioner) to conduct
examinations when deemed necessary.
When the commissioner determines the need for examination, existing law requires the
commissioner to appoint one or more examiners to perform the examination and provide
instruction regarding the scope. Requires examiners to observe guidelines and procedures
in the Examiners' Handbook adopted by the Nat'l Assoc. of Insurance Commissioners.
Further authorizes the commissioner to employ other guidelines or procedures deemed
appropriate.
New law adds the Market Regulation Handbook adopted by the Nat'l Assoc. of Insurance
Commissioners for use by examiners.
New law otherwise retains existing law.
Effective August 1, 2024.
