This bill enacts R.S. 33:2740.70.6 to establish the Shreveport I-20 Economic Development District within the city of Shreveport. The district is defined as a political subdivision of the state and is created to foster cooperative economic and community development, enhance property development, improve infrastructure, and promote employment opportunities. The boundaries of the district are specifically outlined, excluding existing pathways of Interstate 49 and a section of Texas Street.

Governance of the district will be managed by a five-member board of commissioners, with appointments made by local legislative representatives and chambers of commerce. The board will have the authority to adopt rules, manage finances, and oversee public improvements and services within the district. The bill also stipulates that the district will not have the power of taxation and will be subject to audit by the legislative auditor. The provisions of this section are set to remain effective until August 1, 2029.
