This bill enacts a new section, R.S. 40:1464, which mandates that beginning January 1, 2025, all educational institutions and agencies offering commercial driver's training must include at least thirty minutes of anti-trafficking training. This training will focus on the recognition, prevention, and reporting of human trafficking, ensuring that future commercial drivers are equipped with the necessary knowledge to identify and address this critical issue.

Additionally, the bill requires the Board of Regents to develop and provide industry-specific anti-trafficking training materials for use in these educational programs. The Board is tasked with collaborating with organizations that specialize in human trafficking training and must review and update these materials at least every three years to reflect current trends and changes in the field. The provisions of this bill will take effect on August 1, 2024.
