RÉSUMÉ DIGEST
ACT 249 (HB 148) 2024 Regular Session Glorioso
Existing law provides relative to the disposal of public, immovable property, including
streets, roads, and alleys, no longer needed for public use in the parishes of East Baton
Rouge, Jefferson, and St. Tammany, and the cities of Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Slidell,
and municipalities in Jefferson Parish.
Existing law prohibits the governing authority of St. Tammany Parish from disposing of
immovable property pursuant to existing law unless the parish has held such property for at
least 10 years. Provides that the disposal of immovable property pursuant to existing law by
the governing authority of St. Tammany Parish shall not have the effect of denying public
access to the property.
Prior law provided that both of these limitations on disposal of property by St. Tammany
Parish also applied to Slidell. New law removes prior law.
Effective August 1, 2024.
