This bill enacts new provisions in Louisiana law regarding group health insurance coverage for eligible retired employees of the district attorney's offices in the parishes of Sabine and Winn. Specifically, it establishes that if a group health insurer offers a health insurance plan to a retired employee, the respective district attorney's office will cover the premium upon the employee reaching retirement age, in accordance with the Parochial Employees' Retirement System of Louisiana. If such a plan is not available, the office will pay up to 100% of the premium for a comparable health insurance plan chosen by the retired employee.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that once the retired employee becomes eligible for Medicare, they must secure Medicare and pursue a supplemental plan, with the district attorney's office continuing to pay for either the current health insurance premium or the supplemental plan that matches their existing coverage. It also defines a retired employee as someone who has completed twenty-five consecutive years of employment with the district attorney's office at the time of retirement.
