Abstract: Provides for payment of horse racing purses.
Present law requires that a licensee authorized to conduct a race must pay 10% of the winner's share
of the purse of each race won by accredited La. bred horses.
Proposed law instead requires that the 10% be from the total purse of each race earned by accredited
La. bred horses. Proposed law otherwise retains present law.
Present law requires that the sum shall be paid by the licensee within 30 days after the close of the
race meeting to the respective breeders of the winners of such races as a breeder's award.
Proposed law instead requires that the sum shall be paid to the respective breeders of the first,
second, and third place winners of such races as a breeder's award.
Present law exempts proposed law from applying to races written exclusively for accredited La. bred
horses which shall be paid a breeder's award by the La. State Racing Commission out of funds
provided for this purpose pursuant to the provisions of present law.
Proposed law retains present law.
