Provides for an increase in wireless service charges for 911 services provided by the Terrebonne Parish Communications
District
Purpose of Bill: This bill authorizes the Terrebonne Parish Communications District (District) to increase its 911-related
service charge on wireless connections from $1.25 per connection per month up to $1.85 per connection per month. Current
law requires the District to use revenue generated by this service charge for 911-related infrastructure and services and any
other lawful purposes of the District.

EXPENDITURE EXPLANATION
District expenditures will increase as the District uses the revenue generated by the increased service charge
for 911-related purposes, as provided for in current law.
An official with the District indicated that the District plans to use the revenue generated by the increased service charge for
911-related infrastructure and services.
An official with the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government (Parish) indicated that Parish expenditures will not be
impacted as the Parish only approves and levies the service charge.
REVENUE EXPLANATION
This bill may increase District revenues by $588,000 annually, with fiscal year 2025’s increase dependent upon
when the increased service charge goes into effect.
An official with the District indicated that the District currently imposes the maximum service charge of $1.25 per
connection per month on 81,667 wireless connections. This bill authorizes the District to increase this service charge by
$0.60 per connection per month, which may increase District revenue by $588,000 annually (81,667 subscribers x $0.60
service charge increase x 12 months).
An official with the Parish indicated that Parish revenues will not be impacted as the Parish will not receive revenue from this
service charge.
