House Resolution No. by Representative Mike Johnson commends The Cajun Catfish House in Pineville, Louisiana, as it celebrates its fiftieth year of operation. Originally opened in May 1973 in the family home of A.L. and Barbara Lachney Belgard, the restaurant experienced significant growth, leading to renovations for additional seating. Despite a devastating fire in 1994 that destroyed the original location, the community rallied to support the restaurant, allowing it to rebuild and reopen in June 1995.
Today, The Cajun Catfish House is owned and operated by Pam and Deann, the daughters of Mrs. Belgard, and continues to thrive as a family-owned business. Over the past fifty years, it has served as a beloved gathering place for residents of central Louisiana, earning recognition for its longstanding service to the community. The resolution expresses the House of Representatives' sincere wishes for the restaurant's continued success in the years to come.
