Throughout her career, she worked with the East Baton Rouge and Richland Parish School Systems, taught English as a second language to Vietnamese refugees, and served as principal at Dufrocq School and Harding Elementary School until her retirement in 1996.

Janice was also an active member of her community, joining the Mu Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and the Southern University Alumni Federation. She is remembered fondly by her husband of fifty-eight years, Leodrey Williams, their three children, and numerous grandchildren, siblings, and extended family.
