The bill amends and reenacts several sections of the Louisiana Revised Statutes to extend the existence of the Louisiana Drone Advisory Committee, which will now be renamed the Louisiana Advanced Aviation and Drone Advisory Committee. The committee will continue to operate within the Department of Transportation and Development and will consist of fifteen members selected to represent a diverse range of stakeholders involved in drone technology. The committee is tasked with providing recommendations on policy and regulatory issues related to drone technologies to the secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development, as well as relevant legislative committees.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that the newly named committee will meet at least four times a year, starting in August 2021, with appointments to be made by July 31, 2021. The terms of the committee members will now extend until the end of the 2026 Regular Session of the Legislature, rather than the previous two regular sessions. Members will serve without compensation, and the committee will appoint a liaison to the Federal Aviation Administration to address issues related to unmanned aircraft systems.
