Provides relative to the geographic location for the taking of menhaden
Proposed law provides for an exclusion zone where the taking of menhaden is prohibited. The exclusion zone extends one
half mile seaward from land for the coastal boundary between Texas and Louisiana to the coastal boundary between
Mississippi and Louisiana, one mile seaward from land from Timbalier Island to the eastern edge of Grand Terre, three miles
seaward from land from Caminada Pass to Barataria Pass, one half mile seaward from the double rig line as defined in
present law for Breton and Chandeleur, and one half mile seaward from land for the Chandeleur in all directions.
Proposed law prevents the use of any vessel, daughter craft, equipment, nets, autonomous vessel equipment, or any other
equipment of any kind used for taking menhaden in the exclusion zone.

EXPENDITURE EXPLANATION
There is no anticipated direct material effect on governmental expenditures as a result of this measure. Proposed law would
require the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (DWF) Enforcement Division to patrol the area for potential violations. DWF
indicates that enforcement of the exclusion zone will be integrated into normal patrols.
REVENUE EXPLANATION
There is no anticipated direct material effect on governmental revenues as a result of this measure.
