Present law requires that student assessments be conducted and student achievement and student
growth data be used in evaluating teachers, schools, and school districts.
Present law prohibits the use of value-added data to evaluate teacher performance or effectiveness
for the 2020-2021 school year.
Proposed law retains present law and additionally provides that notwithstanding any provision of law
to the contrary, for the 2020-2021 school year, measures of student growth shall not be used for
evaluating teacher performance or teacher effectiveness.
Present law provides for the governing authority of each charter school to annually evaluate each
teacher and administrator.
Present law prohibits the use of value-added data to evaluate teacher performance or effectiveness
for the 2020-2021 school year.
