The bill amends K.S.A. 72-7117 to allow students who transfer schools within Kansas to participate in school activities immediately, provided they meet certain eligibility criteria. These criteria include compliance with established requirements for participation, adherence to behavior and performance standards, possession of necessary skills as determined by the coach or director, and that the maximum participation limit has not been reached. However, if a student transfers primarily for athletic purposes and has been recruited or unduly influenced to do so, they will be ineligible to participate in athletic activities for one calendar year. The bill also clarifies that the eligibility of transfer students for nonathletic activities remains unaffected.

Additionally, the bill repeals the existing section of K.S.A. 72-7117 and makes specific deletions regarding the definition of "interscholastic extracurricular activities" and the grade levels included. The term "interschool" is removed, and the grade range is updated to reflect grades seven through twelve without the previous inclusive language. The bill aims to streamline the eligibility process for students transferring schools while maintaining regulations to prevent undue influence in athletic transfers.
