He was a dedicated family man, a successful grocer, and an active community member, holding leadership roles in local organizations such as the Kiwanis Club and the Chamber of Commerce.
Bill's political career began after his retirement from the grocery business when he was elected as the Kansas State Representative for District 80, serving from 1997 to 2006. During his tenure, he focused on fiscal responsibility, veterans' issues, and community recognition, sponsoring significant legislation including the establishment of a Kansas 9/11 Memorial and the designation of a section of U.S. Highway 54 as the Veterans Memorial Highway. Bill McCreary passed away on December 4, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to his family, community, and the state of Kansas.
