This bill directs the capitol preservation committee to develop and approve plans for a permanent registry kiosk within the state capitol to honor Kansas military forces who were killed in action or died from wounds incurred during active duty. The secretary of administration is authorized to receive and manage funds from grants, gifts, contributions, or bequests specifically for the creation and construction of this kiosk. Importantly, the bill stipulates that no public funds will be used for this purpose, ensuring that all financing comes from private sources.
Additionally, the bill establishes the Kansas military forces registry kiosk fund within the state treasury, which will be used for the creation and construction of the kiosk as well as for any other specified purposes related to the received funds. Expenditures from this fund will be managed through warrants issued by the director of accounts and reports, following approval from the secretary of administration or their designee. The act will take effect upon its publication in the statute book.
