The bill establishes the Kansas Railroad Hall of Fame to honor the significant contributions of individuals in the railroad industry and to celebrate Kansas's rich railroad heritage. The Hall of Fame will be located at the Great Plains Transportation Museum in Wichita, which is deemed an ideal site due to its focus on transportation. The bill also creates the Kansas Railroad Hall of Fame Selection Committee, which will be responsible for managing the Hall of Fame and selecting individuals for induction based on their achievements in the railroad industry.
The Selection Committee will consist of various members, including the executive directors of the Great Plains Transportation Museum and the State Historical Society, as well as appointees from the governor representing the railroad industry and the public. The committee will meet publicly, organize annual induction ceremonies, and may charge fees to cover expenses. Additionally, the committee is authorized to accept donations and enter into agreements to support the Hall of Fame's activities. The act will take effect upon publication in the statute book.
