The bill authorizes the reorganization of the Clearwater cemetery district in Sedgwick County by allowing the board of trustees to adopt a resolution to remove Ohio township from the district. This resolution must be approved by a majority vote of the trustees. Following the reorganization, the cemetery district will consist of three members: the mayor of Clearwater, the township trustee from Ninnescah township, and one at-large member elected by the board of trustees. The at-large member must reside in either Clearwater or Ninnescah township and will represent the entire district, standing for election on a nonpartisan basis at the 2026 general election and every four years thereafter.
Additionally, the bill stipulates that Ohio township and the reorganized Clearwater cemetery district may enter into an interlocal cooperation agreement for the future care of cemeteries and the sharing of existing tax funds. A copy of the reorganization resolution must be sent to the Sedgwick county clerk, and the reorganization will take effect on January 1, 2026.
