This bill amends current laws regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages in Kansas, specifically for the duration of the FIFA 2026 World Cup, which will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. It authorizes any county or city to allow the sale of alcoholic beverages 23 hours a day, seven days a week, during this period. Licensed entities may sell alcoholic liquor or cereal malt beverages from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following day, provided they are located in jurisdictions that have opted to permit such sales.
Additionally, the bill allows the board of county commissioners or the governing body of a city to decide whether to permit these extended sales. If they choose not to allow it, the existing regulations will remain in effect. The bill also requires that any resolution or ordinance passed to allow or disallow these sales be submitted to the director of alcoholic beverage control. The provisions of this act will expire after July 20, 2026.
