This bill amends K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 32-809 to allow for the management of all state-owned properties using funds received from agricultural production on such properties. The bill establishes that all moneys received from agricultural production will be deposited into the newly created state agricultural production fund, which will be managed by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. The department is required to create separate accounts within this fund for each state-owned property, which will be used for costs and expenses associated with the management of these properties.
Additionally, the bill removes the previous requirement that management practices be determined for each property, thereby broadening the scope of how the funds can be utilized. It also stipulates that all expenditures from the state agricultural production fund must comply with appropriation acts and be authorized by the director of accounts and reports, following approval from the secretary of wildlife and parks. The existing section of K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 32-809 is repealed, and the act will take effect upon publication in the statute book.
