The bill establishes a new distinctive license plate known as the "hunter nation" license plate for residents of Kansas who own or lease passenger vehicles or trucks registered for a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less. Starting January 1, 2026, eligible individuals can apply for one hunter nation license plate per vehicle, provided they comply with the registration requirements and pay the regular license fee as well as a logo use royalty payment to the county treasurer. The royalty payment, which ranges from $25 to $100, is determined by Hunter Nation, Inc., which also authorizes the use of its logo on the plates.

Additionally, the bill outlines the application process, stating that applicants must apply at least 60 days before their vehicle registration renewal date and must pay the annual royalty payment for renewals. The license plates are non-transferable, although they can be transferred from a leased vehicle to a purchased vehicle. The bill also mandates that applicants consent to the release of their motor vehicle record information to Hunter Nation, Inc., and the state treasurer. The collection and remittance of the royalty payments will follow existing provisions, with payments made monthly to Hunter Nation Foundation, Inc.
