This bill amends existing Kansas statutes regarding the legislative research department and the division of legislative administrative services. It establishes the responsibility of the division of legislative administrative services to prepare committee minutes for all types of legislative meetings, whether the legislature is in session or not. The bill also updates the language used to refer to committee leadership, changing "chairman" to "chairperson," and clarifies the roles and responsibilities of both the legislative research department and the division of legislative administrative services.

Additionally, the bill repeals the existing sections of K.S.A. 46-1210 and 46-1212a, effectively replacing them with the newly amended provisions. The amendments include changes to the appointment and removal processes for the directors of both departments, as well as the duties assigned to them, such as providing staff services and preparing minutes for committee meetings. The act will take effect upon publication in the statute book.
