This bill amends existing Kansas insurance laws to require that health insurance policies provide coverage for the refilling of prescription topical eye medications under specific conditions. Effective January 1, 2026, any individual or group health insurance policy that covers accident and health services must allow for the early refill of topical eye medication if the medication is intended for a chronic eye condition, the refill is requested before the last day of the prescribed dosage period after at least 75% of the medication has been used, and the prescribing healthcare professional has indicated that refills are permitted.
Additionally, the bill makes amendments to K.S.A. 40-2,103 and K.S.A. 40-19c09, including the deletion of certain provisions related to nonprofit medical and hospital service corporations. It also repeals the existing sections of K.S.A. 40-2,103 and K.S.A. 40-19c09, streamlining the legal framework governing insurance policies in Kansas. The act will take effect upon publication in the statute book.
