This bill amends existing Kansas insurance law to require that all individual and group health insurance policies, medical service plans, and related contracts provide coverage for the refilling of prescription topical eye medications, effective January 1, 2026. Coverage is mandated if the medication is intended to treat a chronic eye condition, the refill is requested before the last day of the prescribed dosage period after at least 75% of the medication has been used, and the prescribing medical professional has indicated that refills are permitted.

Additionally, the bill amends K.S.A. 40-2,103 and K.S.A. 40-19c09, removing certain provisions related to nonprofit medical and hospital service corporations and clarifying that these entities must adhere to the Kansas general corporation code and other specified statutes. The bill also repeals the existing sections of K.S.A. 40-2,103 and K.S.A. 40-19c09, streamlining the legal framework governing health insurance coverage in Kansas.
