This bill establishes the position of a statewide Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) educator, appointed by the attorney general, to enhance drug abuse education in Kansas public schools. The D.A.R.E. educator will be responsible for providing instruction on drug abuse, including a curriculum that covers fentanyl and other opioid drugs, to students in both elementary and secondary schools. Additionally, the educator will report annually to the legislature on any curriculum modifications and provide information on the public schools participating in the program.

To support the D.A.R.E. educator's functions, the bill allows for the appointment of additional staff as necessary, within the limits of available appropriations. The D.A.R.E. educator will also perform various services and provide materials to support the overall D.A.R.E. program in Kansas. The act will take effect upon its publication in the statute book.
