This bill establishes the position of a statewide Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) educator, appointed by the attorney general, to enhance drug abuse education in Kansas public schools. The D.A.R.E. educator will be responsible for providing instruction on drug abuse, including a curriculum that covers fentanyl and other opioid drugs, to students in both elementary and secondary schools. Additionally, the educator is tasked with reporting annually to the legislature on any curriculum modifications and the public schools that participate in the program.

To support the D.A.R.E. educator's functions, the bill allows for the appointment of additional staff as needed, within the limits of available appropriations. The D.A.R.E. educator will also provide various services and materials to bolster the D.A.R.E. program throughout the state. The act will take effect upon its publication in the statute book.
