This bill amends K.S.A. 44-1203 to increase the minimum wage for employees who receive tips and gratuities. The previous minimum wage for such employees, which was set at $2.13 an hour, is replaced with a new minimum wage of $6.15 an hour. Additionally, the bill stipulates that if an employee's total earnings from tips and gratuities, when combined with the employer's minimum wage payment, do not reach the standard minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, the employer must compensate the employee for the difference.

Furthermore, the bill repeals the existing section of K.S.A. 44-1203, which included outdated wage rates and provisions. The new legal language clarifies the calculation of minimum wage for tipped employees and ensures that they receive fair compensation in line with the updated wage standards. The act will take effect upon its publication in the statute book.
