The bill amends K.S.A. 25-4153 to increase the limits on campaign contributions for various political offices in Kansas. Specifically, the contribution limits for candidates running for governor and lieutenant governor, as well as other state officers elected statewide, are raised from $2,000 to $4,000 for each primary and general election. For local offices in jurisdictions with populations under 50,000, the limit increases from $500 to $1,000, and for state senators and members of the state board of education in jurisdictions with populations of 50,000 or more, the limit rises from $1,000 to $2,000. Additionally, the bill modifies the contribution limits for party committees, allowing contributions of up to $35,000 from individuals and national party committees to certain party committees.

The bill also repeals the existing section of K.S.A. 25-4153, which contained the previous contribution limits. Other provisions include stipulations regarding the treatment of contributions from unemancipated children, the accounting methods for contributions designated for different elections, and the definition of "jurisdiction" for local offices. The act will take effect upon publication in the Kansas register.
