The bill establishes a new distinctive "hunter nation" license plate for passenger vehicles and trucks registered in Kansas with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less, effective January 1, 2026. Owners or lessees of these vehicles may apply for one such license plate, provided they comply with the outlined provisions, including payment of a regular license fee and a logo use royalty payment to the county treasurer, which will range from $25 to $100 as determined by Hunter Nation, Inc. The application process requires submission at least 60 days prior to the vehicle's registration renewal date, and the license plate is non-transferable, although it can be transferred from a leased vehicle to a purchased vehicle.

Additionally, the bill mandates that applicants consent to the release of their motor vehicle record information to Hunter Nation, Inc., and the state treasurer as a condition for receiving the license plate and for subsequent renewals. The county treasurer is responsible for collecting and remitting the annual royalty payments, which are subject to existing provisions in Kansas law. The design of the license plate will be created by Hunter Nation, Inc., with the approval of the director of vehicles.
